HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 15880:i Ordinance No I ~/~' " AN ORDINANCE INCREASING ESTIMATED RECEIPTS AND APPROPRIATIONS IN THE ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT FUND IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,250 00 FROM AVAILABLE FUNDS, FOR THE PURPOSE OF FUNDING THE ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT'S 'CLEAN AIR FAIR AND BIKE RALLY"~ MAKING THIS ORDINANCE CUMULATIVE OF PRIOR ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH TEXAS. SECTION 1 That in addition to those amounts allocated to the various City departments for Fiscal Year 2003- 2004 in the Budget of the City Manager there shall also be increased estimated receipts and appropriations in the Environmental Management•Fund in the amount of $1,250.00 from available funds for the purpose of funding the Environmental Management Department's 'Clean Air Fair and Bike Rally" SECTION 2 That should any portion, section or part of a section of this ordinance be declared invalid inoperative or void for any reason by a court of competent jurisdiction such decision opinion or judgment shall in no way impair the remaining portions, sections, or parts of sections of this ordinance, which said remaining provisions shall be and remain in full force and effect. SECTION 3. That this ordinance shall be cumulative of Ordinance No 15636 and all other ordinances and appropriations amending the same except in those instances where the provisions of this ordinance are in direct conflict with such other ordinances and appropriations, in which instance said conflicting provisions of said prior ordinances and appropriations are hereby expressly repealed SECTION 4 This ordinance shall take effect upon adoption PROVED AS TO FORM AND LEGALITY Assistan i y Attorney ~.-/ `~ 0~ ADOPTED AND EFFECTIVE. Authorize the City Manager to accept $1 250 in cash sponsorships for the `Clean Air Fair & Bike Rally" a 'Care for Cowtown Air" Program and 2. Authorize the City Manager to accept donated services sponsorships valued at $16 100• and 3 Adopt the attached supplemental appropriation ordinance increasing estimated receipts appropriations in the Environmental Management Fund by $1 250 to fund the kick-off event for `Clean Air Fair DISCUSSION The 'Clean Air Fair & Bike Rally" event is part of the 'Care for Downtown Air Program and is designed to expand the City's air quality education campaign by increasing citizen awareness of ozone issues within Fort Worth In the Fort Worth/Dallas area approximately 60% of the ozone forming pollution is the result of vehicle emissions The `Clean Air Fair" kick-off event for the 2004 Ozone Season will be held Friday April 23 from 11 00 a m to 2.30 p m on Main Street between Second and Fourth streets The event is designed to attract downtown workers during the lunch hour to increase their awareness of air quality issues and to make them aware of the ways they can 'Care for Cowtown Air This year's event will focus on alternative transportation Displays will highlight the many options available to achieve that goal Whether citizens like to walk, ride a bike or ride the Trinity Railway Express (TRE) the daily choices citizens make have a tremendous impact on our air quality Planned activities include several interactive displays such as a technician giving vehicle maintenance tips, environmental educational activities display booths, food booths and alternatively fueled vehicles on display and a `live radio station broadcast. In addition there will be a FREE thirteen-mile Clean Air Bike Rally that will begin at the Fort Worth Rail Market, wind its way along the Trinity River and conclude at the Clean Air Fair site The bike rally will begin at 10.30 a.m rain or shine Cash sponsorships have been obtained from Lockheed Martin for $1 000 and Alcon Foundation for $250 The Fort Worth Star Telegram has agreed to donate to the City of Fort Worth free newspaper ads promoting the event and bike ride valued at $10 000 The Fort Worth Rail Market will be the bike ride starting location and will provide space for the bike ride participants to park.
