AN ORDINANCE INCREASING ESTIMATED RECEIPTS AND
APPROPRIATIONS IN THE SPECIAL TRUST FUND IN THE AMOUNT OF
$1 425.00 FROM AVAILABLE FUNDS FOR THE PURPOSE OF FUNDING THE
FIRE SAFETY HOUSE, MAKING THIS ORDINANCE CUMULATIVE OF PRIOR
ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH,
TEXAS
SECTION 1
That in addition to those amounts allocated to the various City departments for Fiscal Year 2003-
2004 in the Budget of the City Manager there shall also be increased estimated receipts and
appropriations in the Special Trust Fund in the amount of $1 425.00 from available funds for the
purpose of funding the Fire Safety House.
SECTION 2.
That should any portion, section or part of a section of this ordinance be declared invalid,
inoperative or void for any reason by a court of competent jurisdiction, such decision, opinion or
judgment shall in no way impair the remaining portions, sections, or parts of sections of this
ordinance, which said remaining provisions shall be and remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 3
That this ordinance shall be cumulative of Ordinance No 15636 and all other ordinances and
appropriations amending the same except in those instances where the provisions of this ordinance
are in direct conflict with such other ordinances and appropriations, in which instance said
conflicting provisions of said prior ordinances and appropriations are hereby expressly repealed
SECTION 4
This ordinance shall take effect upon adoption

Accept Monetary Donations and Authorize Use of the Funds by the Fire Safety Education Trust
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council.
1 Accept funds in the amount of $1 000 from Halloween Event, $300 from Laurie and Michael Heinz,
$100 from James and Catherine Kerrigan and $25 from Karen and Jeffrey Cebulske for the Fire Safety
House and
2. Adopt the attached appropriation ordinance increasing estimated receipts and appropriations in the
Special Trust Fund by $1 425 from available funds
DISCUSSION
The Fire Safety Education Trust has received donations in the amount of $1 425 ($1 000 from Halloween
Event, $300 from Laurie and Michael Heinz, $100 from James and Catherine Kerrigan and $25 from Karen
and Jeffrey Cebulske) for the Fire Safety House The purpose of the Fire Safety House is to reinforce the
'Learn Not to Burn program curriculum that is taught in the elementary schools.
The primary goal of the 'Learn Not to Burn program is to teach children and/or adults how to test the door
for heat, when to crawl out of a room and the importance of having two defined exit routes in the event of a
fire Also taught is the importance of sufficient smoke alarms and their placement in homes developing and
adhering to a schedule for battery replacement, basic kitchen safety and how to calf 9-1 1 in the event of
an emergency
Funds from this trust will be used to replenish or purchase items such as.
Clown makeup wigs props and sound equipment; and
Fire Safety House supplies and minor repairs and
Laptops and PowerPoint projectors for presentations; and
Display boards for large meetings and
Items needed to support smoke alarm drives (screw drivers step ladders, etc.)
FISCAL INFORMATION/CERTIFICATION
The Finance Director certifies that upon approval of the above recommendation and adoption of the
attached ordinance funds will be available in the current operating budget, as appropriated of the Special
Trust Fund
