SUBJECT ADOPTION OF ORDINANCE ALLOWING TEN HEAD-IN PARKING SPACES IN THE
800 BLOCK OF TRAVIS AVENUE
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached ordinance allowing ten head-in parking
spaces in the 800 block of Travis Avenue
DISCUSSION
Dunaway Associates, tnc., on behalf of The Warm Place, a medical care facility and temporary
residence for children and their families, has requested ten head-in parking spaces along the west side
of the 800 block of Travis Avenue, adjacent to its new facility (See the attached exhibit)
The additional parking is to be used by staff during the day, freeing the off-street parking for visitors and
guests During the evenings, the spaces will be available for those attending occasional classes and
events sponsored by The Warm Place There are adequate off-street parking spaces to meet code
requirements
The Transportation and Public Works Department reviewed this request and recommends approval
since this new parking will not disrupt traffic flow on Travis Avenue, a local street serving a very limited
area and volume of traffic.
The City code prohibits new head-in/back-out parking on public rights-of-way The attached ordinance
will permit ten head-in parking spaces at this location without altering Section 22-175 (Head-in Parking
Prohibited) of the City code
FISCAL INFORMATION/CERTIFICATION
The Finance Director certifies this action will have no material effect on City funds
