Ordinance No. ~ "`"`~-~~ AN ORDINANCE INCREASING ESTIMATED RECEIPTS AND APPROPRIATIONS IN THE GRANTS FUND IN THE AMOUNT OF $47,120 FROM AVAILABLE FUNDS, SUBJECT TO RECEIPT OF THE GRANT, FOR THE PURPOSE OF FUNDING AN INSTITUTE OF MUSEUM AND LIBRARY SERVICES GENERAL OPERATING SUPPORT GRANT, MAKING THIS ORDINANCE CUMULATIVE OF PRIOR ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS. SECTION 1 That in addition to those amounts allocated to the various City departments for Fiscal Year 2001-02 in the Budget of the City Manager, there shall also be increased estimated receipts and appropriations in the Grants Fund in the amount of $47,120 from available funds, subject to receipt of the grant, for the purpose of funding an Institute of Museum and Library Services General Operating Support grant. SECTION 2. That should any portion, section or part of a section of this ordinance be declared uivalid, inoperative or void for any reason by a court of competent jurisdiction, such decision, opinion or judgment shall ul no way impair the remaining portions, sections, or parts of sections of this ordinance, which said remaining provisions shall be and remain in full force and effect. SECTION 3 That this ordinance shall be cumulative of Ordinance No. 14745 and all other ordinances and appropriations amending the same except in those instances where the provisions of this ordinance are in direct conflict with such other ordinances and appropriations, in which instance said conflicting provisions of said prior ordinances and appropriations are hereby expressly repealed. SECTION 4 This ordinance shall take effect upon adoption. DISCUSSION The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), General Operating Support (GOS) program awards two-year, unrestricted competitive grants to museums for on-going institutional activities Grants are based on the overall strength and quality of the museum as indicated by the museum's responses on the application The goal of the GOS program is to distribute federal funds equitably and in proportion to the number of museums applying in each of the various categories The grant award is based on the most recent fiscal year budget, plus non-cash contributions received in that same year The Log Cabin Village is eligible to receive up to 15% of its annual budget, plus in-kind contributions, as its grant award which amounts to $47,120 No matching funds or in-kind contributions are required for receipt of the grant. These funds would be disbursed October 1, 2002, through September 30, 2004, in eight quarterly payments If awarded, funds would be used to continue to fulfill the objectives and address findings of the Museum Assessment Program I and II of the American Association of Museums, and Conservation Assessment Program grants of 1994, 1998, and 2000 Specifically, funding will provide for a complete interior lighting redesign and re-chinking of the cabins, which considers the historical aesthetics and preservation needs of the cabins and the artifacts on exhibit.
