DISCUSSION
On June 20, 2000 (M&C G-12946), the City Council amended City Ordinance No 14234 to authorize
Cowboy Cab Company to operate 100 taxicabs on public streets, alleys and thoroughfares of the City
of Fort Worth
On January 4, 2002, correspondence was received from Mr Karl Kuhlman, Vice President of Cowboy
Cab Company, requesting approval to reduce the number of taxicabs Cowboy Cab Company is
authorized to operate in Fort Worth from 100 to 25
Mr Kuhlman indicates the reduction in the number of taxicabs is necessary due to a decreased
demand for taxicab service, a slowdown in the economy, and the unforeseen impact of the September
11th tragedy
The reduction in the number of taxicabs will result in a $300 per taxicab or $22,500 less in grant of
privilege fee revenue
