AN ORDINANCE INCREASING ESTIMATED RECEIPTS AND APPROPRIATIONS
IN THE GRANTS FUND IN THE AMOUNT OF $144,550 FOR THE PURPOSE OF
FUNDING A RENEWAL OF CONTRACT WITH THE U.S. EQUAL EMPLOYMENT
OPPORTUNITY COMMISSION (EEOC) FOR FISCAL YEAR 2001-2002, MAKING
THIS ORDINANCE CUMULATIVE OF PRIOR ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT
HEREWITH, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH,
TEXAS.
SECTION 1
That in addition to those amounts allocated to the vanous City departments for Fiscal Year 2001-02 in the
Budget of the City Manager, there shall also be increased estimated receipts and appropriations in the Grants
Fund in the amount of $144,550 for the purpose funding a renewal of contract with the U.S. Equal
Employment Opportunity Commission for Fiscal Year 2001-2002.
SECTION 2.
That should any portion, section or part of a section of this ordinance be declared invalid, inoperative or void
for any reason by a court of competent jurisdiction, such decision, opinion or judgment shall in no way uripair
the remaining portions, sections, or parts of sections of this ordinance, which said remauung provisions shall
be and remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 3
That this ordinance shall be cumulative of Ordinance No. 14745 and all other ordinances and appropriations
amending the same except in those instances where the provisions of this ordinance are in direct conflict with
such other ordinances and appropriations, in which instance said conflicting provisions of said prior
ordinances and appropriations are hereby expressly repealed.
SECTION 4
This ordinance shall take effect upon adoption.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council
1 Authorize the City Manager to accept and execute a contract with the U S Equal Employment
Opportunity Commission (EEOC) in the amount of $144,550, and
2 Adopt the attached appropriation ordinance increasing estimated receipts and appropriations in the
Grants Fund by $144,550 from available funds `
DISCUSSION
In January 1977, the EEOC recognized the Fort Worth Human Relations Commission as a local
deferral agency in accordance with Section 706(c) of the U S Equal Employment Opportunity Act of
1972, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended Pursuant to this section, the EEOC, prior to
asserting jurisdiction over employment discrimination charges, defers such charges for resolution to a
local or state agency having authority to enforce a local or state fair employment law similar to Title VII,
the Age Discrimination in Employment Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
The agreement provides reimbursement for•
• Deferral of 125 non jurisdictional charges of discrimination at a cost of $50 per case, and
• Resolution of 275 charges of alleged discrimination at a cost of $500 per case, and
• Partial reimbursement for expenses relating to mandatory training at an EEOC-sponsored
annual conference, in the amount of $800
