AN ORDINANCE VACATING AND EXTINGUISHING A PORTION OF
NINE MILE BRIDGE ROAD, IN THE REATA ADDITION, PARKER
COUNTY, TEXAS, PROVIDING FOR REVERSION OF FEE IN SAID
LAND, REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HERE-WITH,
AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH,
TEXAS
SECTION 1
THAT a 5 388 acre segment of the Nine Mile Bridge Road, Reata Addition,
adjacent to Lot 1, Block 1, Lots 1 and 2, Block 3, Lots 13 through 19, Block 5, and Lot
22, Block 4, Reata Addition, as recorded in Parker County "B", Slide 201, Plat Records,
Parker County, Texas, and as more specifically described in Exhibit A attached hereto
and incorporated herein by reference be and the same is vacated and extinguished
SECTION 2
That the fee to the land in the above described vacated street right-of-way is
hereby released and shall revert to the adjacent owner as provided by law
SECTION 3
That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed
SECTION 4.
That this ordinance shall take effect upon adoption

addition for the southwest and beginning corner of this tract.

southwest corner of Lot 22, Block 4 of said addition for the northwest corner of this tract.

Thence Southeasterly around the arc of a 03 deg. 04 min. 20 sec. curve to the left with a

To Whom It May Concern.
Recently you received a public notice of a hearing before the City of Fort Worth Plan
Commission to request the vacation of the proposed extension of Nine Mile Bndge Rd. Part
of the road is dedicated at 60' wide where rt abuts property wrthun the Reata Subdivision on
one side and 120' wide where it abuts property on both sides. The public nonce reflects an
application subrmtted by Charles and Joyce Fay However, the intent is to use this process
and application to vacate all of the nght-of--way dedicated by the Reata subdivision plat and
transfer that property to the adjacent property owners. This nght-of--way is delineated on the
map attached to the application and includes approximately 5 4 acres of land. The proposal is
to transfer public ownership of this property proportionally, based on road frontage, to each
individual property owner located wrthm the Reata Addition located adjacent to thus nght-of-
way
The nght-of--way was ongmally required by the City of Fort Worth to provide for a future
mayor artenal (the extension of Nine Mile Bridge Rd.) in accordance with an adopted Master
Thoroughfare Plan. However, due ~to changed circumstances, this proposed roadway was
eliminated from the plan and the nght-of--way is no longer needed. At this time, because the
nght-of--way is actually dedicated to Parker County by the recording of the Reata Addition
plat, the City of Fort Worth can only relinquish our claim for use as a future nght-of--way
Following completion of this action to vacate the nght-of--way by the City Council, it will be
necessary for the County to transfer ownership of the property by quick claun deed or other
acceptable means. As part of our action, we are recommending that no replat of the individual
properties be requrred to show ownership and reconfiguration of the new lot areas once the
real property transfer is accomplished.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached ordinance vacating a 5 388 acre segment of
Nine Mile Bridge Road in the Reata Addition, adjacent to Lot 1, Block 1, Lots 1 and 2, Block 3, Lots 13
through 19, Block 5, and Lot 22, Block 4, Reata Addition as recorded in Parker County "B", Slide 201,
of the Plat Records of Parker County, Texas
DISCUSSION
Charles L. and Joyce B Fay, owners of Lot 22, Block 4, Reata Addition, and representing the other
adjacent owners of the above-designated property, have requested vacation of said street to enable
combining the vacated portions with the respective adjacent properties The Transportation and Public
Works Department recommends abandonment of this segment as it is no longer required to complete
the City's Thoroughfare Plan
The City Plan Commission recommended abandonment of the street on January 24, 2001 Reviewing
City departments and public utility companies have raised no objections to this request. The right-of-
way was dedicated by plat to Parker County, Texas A replat is not required (See attached exhibit.)
This request is located in the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City of Fort Worth
