Home My WebLink AboutOrdinance 14846• ~: Ordinance No. / ~ ~ 7'' AN ORDINANCE INCREASING THE ESTIMATED RECEIPTS AND APPROPRIATIONS IN THE SEWER CAPITAL PROJECT FUND IN THE AMOUNT OF $801,200 FROM AVAILABLE FUNDS FOR THE PURPOSE OF FUNDING A CONTRACT WITH RED RIVER CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE SUNSET COVE SANITARY SEWER LIFT STATION IMPROVEMENT PROJECT, MAKING THIS ORDINANCE CUMULATNE OF PRIOR ORDINANCES AND REPEALING ALL PRIOR ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTNE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS SECTION 1 That in addition to those amounts allocated to the various City departments for the Fiscal Year 2001-02 and in the Budget of the City Manager, there shall also be increased estimated receipts and appropriafions in the Sewer Capital Project Fund in the amount of $801,200 from available funds for the purpose of fundmg a contract with Red River Construction Company for construction of the Sunset Cove Sanitary Lift Station Improvement Project. SECTION 2. That should any portion, section or part of a section of this ordinance be declared invalid, inoperative or void for any reason by a court of competent jurisdiction, such decision, opinion or judgment shall m no way impair the remaining portions, sections, or parts of sections of this ordinance, which said remaining provisions shall be and remain ui full force and effect. SECTION 3 That this ordinance shall be cumulative of Ordinance No 14745 and all other ordinances and appropnations amending the same except in those instances where the provisions of this ordinance are in direct conflict with such other ordinances and appropriations, in which instance said conflicting provisions of said prior ordinances and appropriations are hereby expressly repealed. Adopt the attached appropriation ordirnance increasing estimated receipts and appropriations in the Sewer .Capital Project Fund in the amount of $801,200 from available funds, and 3 Authorize the City Manager to execute a contract with Red River Construction Company in the amount of $777,700 for the Sunset Cove Sanitary Sewer Lift Station Improvement Project. DISCUSSION On January 4, 2000 (M&C PZ-2162), the City of Fort Worth annexed the 1,559 1 acres of Tarrant County Municipal Utility District (MUD) No 1, and took over ownership and maintenance of the MUD's wastewater collection system The Sunset Cove Sanitary Sewer Lift Station is one of two primary stations in the area that serves a drainage area located between Boat Club. Road to the east, Robertson Road to the south, Eagle Mountain Lake to the west, and Lake Country Drive to the north. This drainage area has experienced rapid growth in recent years, including the Ranch at Eagle Mountain Lake. residential development. Upon annexation, City staff began a detailed evaluafion of the condition and operations of the Sunset Cove Lift Station which revealed that the station capacity is insufficient. In addition, the existing electrical system serving this station experiences frequent outages resulting in sanitary sewer overflows The new lift station will address these deficiencies by enhancing electrical and control reliability, .and include additional storage, together with an .increased pumping capacity and efficiency to meet both present demand and future growth In order to eliminate sanitary sewer overflows, the new station will incorporate a permanent standby diesel generator to power the lift station during power outages. Red River Construction Company identified several. subcontracting and supplier opportunities. However, the M/WBEs contacted in the areas identified did not submit the lowest bids. The City's goal on this project is 19%. In addition to the contract cost, $23,500 is provided for project contingencies.
