HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 14573Ordinance No. l ~S~ ~" AN ORDINANCE INC]EtEASING THE ESTIMATED RECEIPTS AND APPROPRIATIONS IN THE ~` GENERAL FUND IN THE AMOUNT OF $8,250 FROM AVAILABLE FUNDS FOR THE PURPOSE OF FUNDING THE "CARE FOR COWTOWN AIR" PROGRAM, MAKING THIS ORDINANCE CUMULATIVE OF PRIOR ORDINANCES AND REPEALING ALL PRIOR ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITF[, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY rl'HE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS. SECTION 1 That in addition to those amounts allocated to the various City departments for the Fiscal Year 2000-01 and in the Budget of the City Manager, there shall also be increased estimated receipts in the General Fund in the amount of $8,250 from available fiznds for the purpose of funding the "Care For Cowtown Air" Program. SECTION 2. That should any pornon, section or part of a section of this ordinance be declared invalid, inoperative or void for any reason by a court of competent jurisdiction, such decision, opinion or judgment shall in no way impair the remaining portions, sections, or parts of sections of this ordinance, which said remaining provisions shall be and remain m full force and effect. SECTION 3 That this ordinance shall be cumulative of Ordinance No. 14286 and all other ordinances and appropriations amending the same except in those instances where the provisions of this ordinance are in direct conflict with such other ordinances and appropriations, in which instance said conflicting provisions of said prior ordinances and appropriations are hereby expressly repealed. SECTION 4 This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force after the date of its passage, and it is so ordained. APPROVED AS TO FORM ANI) LEGALITY r„ Assistant City Attorney `(/ ~ - ~ 7 -off Date ~12~- ~a ~ Adopted ~a~~ot Effective City of Fort Worth, Texas ~1-~A~ar And C,auncil Cainn~un~cut~an DATE REFERENCE= NUMBER LOG NAME PAGE 3/27/01 C-18526 52CARE 1 of 2 suB~ECT ACCEPTAP~CE OF SPONSORSHIPS FOR "CARE FOR COWTOWN AIR" PROGRAM RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council 1 Authorize the City Manager to accept $8,250 in cash sponsorships for the "Care for Cowtown Air" program, and 2 Adopt the attached supplemental appropriation ordinance increasing estimated receipts and appropriations in the General Fund. by $8,250 to fund the kick-off event for "Care for Cowtown Air", and 3 Authorize the City Man~~ger to accept donated services sponsorships valued at $12,000 DISCUSSION The "Care for Cowtown Air" program is designed to expand the City's air quality education campaign by increasing citizen awareness of ozone issues In the Fort Worth/Dallas area, approximately 60% of the ozone forming pollution is i:he result of vehicle emissions The focus of the program is on the reduction of vehicle emissions through proper vehicle maintenance and the use of low emission vehicles (LEVs) Area businesses are also encouraged to start internal ozone incentive programs with their employees Cash sponsorships have been obtained from Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway ($2,500), Bell Helicopter Textron, Inc. ($2,000), Motorola ($1,000), Lockheed Martin Corporation ($1,000), Blue Mountain Energy ($1,000), the City Center Development Company ($500), and Alcon Laboratories ($250) The Fort Worth 13usiness Press has agreed to provide the City free ad spaces valued at $5,000 Radio station KSC:S 96 3, will do a "live" broadcast at the kick-off event and will air promotional spots for the event valued Est $7,000 The kick-off event for the x'.001 ozone season will be held Friday, April 27, from 11.00 a.m - 2 30 p.m on Main Street between Third and Fifth Streets The event is designed to attract downtown workers during the lunch hour to increase their awareness of ozone issues, and to make them aware of the ways they can "Care for Cowtown Air " The focus of the event is on' how individuals can help significantly reduce ozone=forming pollution by properly maintaining their vehicles. and/or using LEVs Planned kick-off activities include several interactive displays such as a technician giving vehicle maintenance tips, environi•nental educational activities, display booths, food booths and alternatively fueled vehicles on display, and a "live" radio station broadcast.
