To assist with decisions about allocation costs on a "fair and equitable" basis to each customer class, an Informal Retail Customer Advisory Committee was formed consisting of eight members Membership included representatives from neighborhood associations, commercial customers, and large volume industrial customers. Five meetings were conducted with the committee members. The responsibilities of the committee were to make recommendations to Water Department staff concerning the equity of the rate structure Based on the committee's guidance, staff is recommending rates designed to recover the costs of providing water and wastewater service to retail customers with an equitable distribution of the adjustment among the customer classes. The retail portion of the recommended revenue requirements resulted in an increase of 11 45% for wastewater and 4 82% for water The Water Department proposes the following water and wastewater rates RETAIL WATER RATES Monthly Service Charge Current Proposed 5/8" Meter per Month $ 3 50 $ 4 50 3/" Meter per Month $ 3 50 $ 4 50 1" Meter per Month $ 5 75 $ 7 00 1 %2" Meter per Month $ 10 80 $ 12 00 2" Meter per Month $ 17 30 $ 19 00 3" Meter per Month $ 32 50 $ 34 00 4" Meter per Month $ 54.20 $ 56 00 6" Meter per Month $108 35 $111 00 8" Meter per Month $173 35 $177 00 10" Meter per Month $249.20 $254 00 Residential Current Proposed Volume Charge (per 100 cubic feet -first 4,000 cubic feet) $ 1 48 $ 1.50 Volume Charge (per 100 cubic feet -over 4,000 cubic feet) $ 1 69 $ 1 72 Commercial Current Proposed Volume Charge (per 100 cubic feet -first 250,000 cubic feet) $ 1 43 $ 1 47 Volume Charge (per 100 cubic feet -over 250,000 cubic feet) $ 1 09 $ 1 12 ,.
