HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 14150ORDINANCE NO I ~5O AN ORDINANCE INCREASING THE ESTIMATED RECEIPTS AND APPROPRIATIONS IN THE GRANTS FUND BY $10,000.00 FROM AVAILABLE FUNDS FOR THE PURPOSE OF FUNDING AN APPLICATION TO TEXAS PARKS AND WILDLIFE DEPARTMENT FOR "KIDFISH", PROVIDING FOR A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE, MAKING THIS ORDINANCE CUMULATIVE OF PRIOR ORDINANCES AND REPEALING ALL PRIOR ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS SECTION 1 That in addition to those amounts allocated to the various City departments for the Fiscal Year 1999/00 and in the Budget of the City Manager, there shall also be increased estimated receipts and appropriations in the Grants Fund by $10,000 00 from available funds for the purpose of funding an application to Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for "Kidfish" SECTION 2. Should any portion, section or part of a section of this ordinance be declared invalid, inoperative or void for any reason by a court of competent jurisdiction, such decision, opinion or judgment shall in no way impair the remaining portions, sections, or parts of sections of this ordinance, which said remaining provisions shall be and remain in full force and effect. SECTION 3 That this ordinance shall be cumulative of Ordinance No. 13886 and all other ordinances and appropriations amending the same except in those instances where the provisions of this ordinance are in direct conflict with such other ordinances and appropriations, in which instance said conflicting provisions of said prior ordinances and appropriations are hereby expressly repealed. Assistant 't Attorney ~- /~~C~ Date 02 ('(.~ Adopte Effectiv City of Fort Worth, Texas M,,A~oe and Caunril CammunicAtion DATE REFERENCE NUMBER LOG NAME PAGE 3/28/00 G-12870 80KIDFISH 1 of 2 sus~ECT APPLICATION TO THE TEXAS PARKS AND WILDLIFE DEPARTMENT FOR "KIDFISH" GRANT RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council 1 Authorize the City Manager to apply for and accept, if awarded, a grant request in the amount of $7,500 for the "KIDFISH" Community Development Grant Program administered by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and funded by the Federal Aid in Sports Fish Restoration Program, and 2 Authorize the City Manager to accept donations in the amount of $2,500 from various neighborhood organizations, and 3 Adopt the attached appropriation ordinance increasing the estimated receipts and appropriations in the Grants Fund by $10,000 DISCUSSION The Parks and Community Services Department was approached by the neighborhood organizations that are served by the Greenbriar Park and Community Center regarding the need to install facilities to improve access to fishing at Greenbriar Lake Better lake access is needed to afford more opportunities for all children to fish from the lake's edge No Capital Improvement Program funds or other City funds are currently available to meet this need In meetings with community leaders, it was determined that the community would raise sufficient funds or donations to meet the 25% local match requirement needed to seek "KIDFISH" grant funding Priorities for grant funding were established by the community and include funding to build a trail around the perimeter of the lake Trail improvements will be funded through grant and donation funding Members of the neighborhood have worked diligently to hold an extremely successful "KIDFISH" event at Greenbriar Lake The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department provided the community with information on the "KIDFISH" Community Development Grant Program, and the community has taken the initiative in committing to raising the necessary matching grant funds.
