AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 22 MOTOR VEHICLES AND
TRAFFIC OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH (1986), AS
AMENDED BY AMENDING SUBSECTION (f) OF SECTION 22-86 OF
ARTICLE III THEREOF BY CHANGING CERTAIN SCHOOL ZONES AND
THE TIME SCHOOL ZONES ARE IN EFFECT, BY AMENDING
SUBSECTION (g) OF SECTION 22-86 OF ARTICLE III THEREOF BY
CHANGING LOCATION, EXTENT AND/OR SPEED LIMITS OF CERTAIN
SPEED ZONES, PROVIDING THAT THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BE
CUMULATIVE OF ALL PROVISIONS OF ORDINANCES AND OF SUCH
CODE AFFECTING MOTOR VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC PROVIDING A
SAVINGS CLAUSE, PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE,
PROVIDING A PENAL CLAUSE, AND NAMING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS
SECTION 1
That Subsection (f) of Section 22-86 of Article III of Chapter 22 of the Code of the City
of Fort Worth (1986), as amended, and the same is hereby amended as indicated.

SECTION 3
That this ordinance shall be cumulative of all provisions of ordinances and of the Code of
the City of Fort Worth (1986), as amended, affecting motor vehicles and traffic, except where the
provisions of this ordinance are in direct conflict with the provisions of such ordinances and such
Code are hereby repealed.
SECTION 4
That all nghts or remedies of the City of Fort Worth, Texas are expressly saved as to any
and all violations of the provisions of Chapter 22 or the Code of the City of Fort Worth (1986),

as amended, and of any other ordinance affecting motor vehicles and traffic which have accrued
at the time of the effective date of this ordinance, and, as to such accrued violations, and all
pending litigation, both civil or criminal, whether pending in court or not, under such chapter
and/or other ordinances same shall not be affected by this ordinance but maybe prosecuted until
final disposition by the courts.
SECTION 5
That rt is hereby declared to be the intention of the City Council that the sections,
paragraphs, sentences, clauses and phrases of this ordinance are severable, and if any phrase,
clause, sentence, paragraph or section of this ordinance shall be declared void, ineffective or
unconstitutional by the valid judgment or decree of any court of competent jurisdiction, such
voidness, ineffectiveness or unconstitutionality shall not affect any of the remaining phrases,
clauses, sentences, paragraphs or sections of this ordinance, since the same would have been
enacted by the City Council without the incorporation herein of any such void, ineffective or
unconstitutional phrase, clause, sentence, paragraph or section.
SECTION 6
The City Secretary of the City of Fort Worth is hereby directed to publish the caption and
penalty clause of this ordinance for two (2) days in the official newspaper of the City of Fort
Worth, as authorized by Section 52.013, Texas Local Government Code.
SECTION 7
That any person violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty
of a misdemeanor, and each such person shall be deemed guilty of a separate offense for each
day or portion thereof during which any violation of any of the provisions of this ordinance is
committed, continued or permitted, and each violation shall be punishable by a fine not to exceed
Two Hundred Dollars ($200 00)
SECTION 8
That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after the date of its passage
and publication as required by law and it is so ordained.

SUBJECT APPROVAL OF AMENDMENT TO SPEED ZONE ORDINANCE
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council approve certain amendments to the City's Speed Zone
Ordinance (Chapter 22 of the City Code) by adopting the attached ordinance
DISCUSSION
Due to the addition of new schools, boundary changes and traffic flows, several speed limit changes
are being recommended for the City of Fort Worth These changes are in coordination with the Texas
Department of Transportation and the associated schools
The attached proposed ordinance incorporates all the above, and amends the City's Speed Zone
Ordinance (Chapter 22 of the City Code) by making certain additions and deletions recommended by
the Transportation and Public Works Department.
FISCAL INFORMATION/CERTIFICATION
The Finance Director certifies that this action wi11 have no material effect on City funds.
