RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council
1 Adopt the attached appropriation ordinance increasing estimated receipts and appropriations in the
Environmental Management Project Fund by $320,000 from available funds, and
2 Approve the transfer of $200,000 from undesignated funds to the Street Sweeping Project within the
Environmental Management Project Fund
DISCUSSION
In May 1998, Environmental Management Department reviewed a program from the Transportation &
Public Works Department concerning the annual sweeping of residential streets This program, known
as the "Street Sweeping Maintenance Improvements" program, is an enhancement to the existing
sweeping program This program qualifies for funding by the Environmental Protection Fee because it
results in less discharge of floatable, biological, and/or sedimentary materials through the City's storm
sewer system
The program was originally funded in FY 98-99 with the contract awarded in June 1999 The first
renewal option on the contract is now being exercised by the Transportation and Public Works
Department (TPW) and the transfer of additional funds is necessary at this time
FISCAL CERTIFICATION/INFORMATION
