AN ORDINANCE INCREASING THE ESTIMATED RECEIPTS AND APPROPRIATIONS IN THE
GRANT FUND IN THE AMOUNT OF $10,000 FROM AVAILABLE FUNDS FOR THE PURPOSE OF
FUNDING THE ANIMAL CARE AND CONTROL PROGRAM, PROVIDING FOR A SEVERABILITY
CLAUSE, MAKING THIS ORDINANCE CUMULATNE OF PRIOR ORDINANCES AND
REPEALING ALL PRIOR ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH, AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS
SECTION 1
That in addition to those amounts allocated to the various City departments for the Fiscal Year 1999-00 and in the Budget of
the City Manager, there shall also be increased estimated receipts and appropriations in the Grant Fund in the amount of
$10,000 from available funds for the purpose of funding the Animal Care and Control Program.
SECTION 2.
That should any portion, section or part of a section of this ordinance be declared invalid, inoperative or void for any reason by
a court of competent jurisdiction, such decision, opinion or judgment shall in no way impair the remaining portions, sections,
or parts of sections of this ordinance, which said remaining provisions shall be and remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 3
That this ordinance shall be cumulative of Ordinance No. 13886 and all other ordinances and appropriations amending the
same except in those instances where the provisions of this ordinance are in direct conflict with such other ordinances and
appropriations, in which instance said conflicting provisions of said prior ordinances and appropriations are hereby expressly
repealed.
SECTION 4
This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force after the date of its passage, and it is so ordained.

SUBJECT PET LIFE FOUNDATION GRANT FOR ANIMAL CARE AND CONTROL
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council
1 Authorize the City Manager to apply for, and if offered, accept a grant from the Pet Life Foundation
for the Public Health Department's Animal Care and Control Division to enhance current programs,
and
2 Adopt the attached appropriation ordinance increasing estimated receipts and appropriations in the
Grants Fund in the amount of $10,000, upon receipt of the grant
DISCUSSION
Current funding for animal services programs comes entirely from the General Fund The Animal Care
and Control Division would like to explore grant opportunities to enhance its current programs, and
wishes to apply to the Pet Life Foundation for a grant to launch a billboard and road sign campaign
discouraging the abandonment of pets in isolated areas of the City Each sign will include the shelter
address and phone number to offer a humane alternative to owners who need to surrender a pet.
Cost for the campaign is estimated at $10,000
FISCAL INFORMATION/CERTIFICATION
The Finance Director certifies that upon acceptance of the grant and adoption of the attached
appropriation ordinance, funds will be available in the Grants Fund
