AN ORDINANCE INCREASING THE ESTIMATED RECEIPTS AND APPROPRIATIONS
IN THE SPECIAL TRUST FUND IN THE AMOUNT OF $100 00 SUBJECT TO RECEIPT
OF A DONATION FROM CYGNUS BUSINESS MEDIA, INC FOR THE FIRE SAFETY
EDUCATION TRUST PROVIDING FOR A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE, MAKING THIS
ORDINANCE CUMULATIVE OF PRIOR ORDINANCES, REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES
IN CONFLICT HEREWITH AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS
SECTION 1
That in addition to those amounts allocated to the various City departments for Fiscal Year 2009-2010 in the
Budget of the City Manager there shall also be increased estimated receipts and appropriations in the
Special Trust Fund in the amount of $100 00 subject to receipt of a donation from Cygnus Business Media,
Inc. for the for the Fire Safety Education Trust.
SECTION 2.
That should any portion, section or part of a section of this ordinance be declared invalid inoperative or void
for any reason by a court of competent jurisdiction, such decision, opinion or judgment shall in no way
impair the remaining portions, sections or parts of sections of this ordinance, which said remaining
provisions shall be and remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 3
That this ordinance shall be cumulative of Ordinance No 18809 and all other ordinances and appropriations
amending the same except in those instances where the provisions of this ordinance are in direct conflict
with such other ordinances and appropriations, in which instance said conflicting provisions of said prior
ordinances and appropriations are hereby expressly repealed
SECTION 4
This ordinance shall take effect upon adoption

Authorize the Acceptance of a Monetary Donation in the Amount of $100 00 from Cygnus Business Media
Inc. for the Fire Safety Education Trust and Adopt Appropriation Ordinance
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council
1 Authorize the City Manager to accept a monetary donation in the amount of $100 00 from Cygnus
Business Media Inc. and
2. Adopt the attached appropriation ordinance increasing estimated receipts and appropriations by
$100 00 from available funds in the Special Trust Fund
DISCUSSION
The Fire Safety Education Trust (Trust) received a donation totaling $100 00 The purpose of the Fire
Safety Education Program is to enforce the Learn Not to Burn® curriculum that is taught in the elementary
schools
The primary goal of that program is to teach children and/or adults how to test the door for heat, when to
crawl out of a room and the importance of having two defined exit routes in the event of a fire This
program also teaches the importance of having enough smoke alarms the proper placement of smoke
alarms in homes developing and adhering to a schedule for battery replacement, basic kitchen safety and
how to call 9-1 1 in the event of an emergency
Funds from this Trust will be used to replenish or purchase items such as.
. Fire Safety House supplies and minor repairs
. Laptops and PowerPoint projectors for presentations,
. Display boards for large meetings and
. Items needed to support smoke alarm drives (screw drivers step ladders etc )
FISCAL INFORMATION /CERTIFICATION
The Financial Management Services Director certifies that upon adoption of the attached appropriation
ordinance funds will be available in the current operating budget, as appropriated of the Special Trust
Fund The Fire Department is responsible for the collection and deposit of the donated funds
