AN ORDINANCE VACATING, ABANDONING, CLOSING AND
EXTINGUISHING A PORTION OF DESPAIN DRIVE, WEDGEWOOD
ADDITION, TO THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS; PROVIDING FOR
REVERSION OF FEE IN SAID LAND, REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES
IN CONFLICT HEREWITH, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH,
TEXAS
SECTION 1.
THAT DeSpain Drive, being approximately 248 feet long by 68 feet wide and
containing approximately 16,880 square feet, located between Lot 1, Block 500 and Lot
1, Block 502, Wedgewood Addition, as recorded in Volume 388-137, Page 57, Plat
Records, Tarrant County, Texas, and as more specifically described in Exhibit A
attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference be and the same is vacated,
abandoned and permanently closed and extinguished
SECTION 2.
That the fee to the land in the above described street right-of--way is hereby
released and shall revert to the adjacent owner as provided by law, SAVE AND
EXCEPT that easements are retained for any and all existing and prospective utilities
SECTION 3.
That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed
SECTION 4.
That this ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect from and after
the date of its passage, and it is so ordained

TO BE VACATED
BEGINNING at a point in the south ROW lute of Alta Mesa Blvd. at the northwest corner of Lot
1, Block 502, Wedgwood Addition to the City of Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas, according to
the plat recorded in Volume 388-137, Page 57, Plat Records of Tarrant County, Texas, being 16,880
square feet and being more particularly described by metes and bounds as follows:
THENCE S 00° 44' 31" E, 248.35 feet to a point;
THENCE S 89° 25' 26" W, 68 00 feet to a point,
THENCE N 00° 44' 31" W, 248 13 feet to a point m said southerly ROW line of Alta Mesa Blvd.,
TI~NCE N 89° 14' 29" E, 68 00 feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING and containing 16,8$0 square
feet or 0 388 of an acre of land.

BLOCK 502, WEDGEWOOD ADDITION, FORT WORTH, TEXAS (VA-99-019)
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached ordinance vacating DeSpain Drive,
approximately 248 feet long by 68 feet wide, containing 16,880 square feet, in the Wedgewood
Addition, as recorded in Volume 137, page 57, of the Plat Records, Tarrant County, Texas.
DISCUSSION
Christ Church Assembly of God, owner of the property to the east and south, has requested the
vacation of this street to use the roadway for a private drive. Bethesda Foundation, owner of adjacent
property to the west, agrees with the request. A replat has been filed The vacated street will be
retained as a utility easement. Reviewing City departments and public utility companies have raised no
objection to this vacation On April 28, 1999, the Plan Commission recommended approval of this
request.
This property is located in COUNCIL DISTRICT 6
FISCAL INFORMATION/CERTIFICATION
The Real Property Division of the Engineering Department will be responsible for the collection and
deposit of $4,726 40 due to the City under this agreement.
