SUBJECT SUPPLEMENTAL APPROPRIATION TO FUND PRO SHOP OPERATIONS AT Z-BOAZ
AND ROCKWOOD GOLF COURSES FOR THE PARKS AND COMMUNITY SERVICES
DEPARTMENT GOLF DIVISION
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council authorize the City Manager to adopt the attached supplemental
appropriation ordinance increasing appropriations and decreasing the unreserved, undesignated
retained earnings of the Golf Fund by $239,771
DISCUSSION
On December 9, 1997 (M&C G-12082), the City Council authorized the City Manager to allow the
current contracts with the American Golf Corporation and International Golf of Texas, Inc. to expire at
the conclusion of their primary terms and allow for City staff to take over all agronomic aspects and
capital improvement programs for the golf operations.
On March 3, 1998, the City Council approved M&C G-12146, authorizing a supplemental appropriation
to fund the maintenance operations at Z-Boaz and Rockwood golf courses. On April 21, 1998, the City
Council approved a contract (M&C C-16735) with PRP Food Service, Inc. to operate the snack shops at
Pecan Valley, Meadowbrook and Rockwood golf courses. (Staff is currently negotiating with PRP to
operate the snack shops at Z-Boaz and Sycamore golf courses.) On May 5, 1998, the City Council
directed Staff to continue operation of the five (5) pro shops with City employees.
As a result of the City Council's decision to operate the pro shops with City employees, the 1998
current operating budget of the Golf Enterprise Fund needs to be increased to fund pro shop operations
at Rockwood and Z-Boaz.
A total of $239,771 is required to fund positions, supplies, utilities, contractual services and equipment
at these two facilities through the remainer of the current fisca{ year
