Ordinance No 13 ~~
AN ORDINANCE INCREASING THE ESTIMATED RECEIPTS AND APPROPRIATIONS IN THE
GENERAL FUND IN THE AMOUNT OF $7,500 00 FROM AVAILABLE FUNDS FOR THE PURPOSE
OF FUNDING THE PURCHASE OF LIBRARY MATERIALS FOR VARIOUS BRANCHES THROUGH
A CONTRIBUTION FROM THE TEXAS BOOK FESTIVAL AWARD; PROVIDING FOR A
SEVERABILITY CLAUSE, MAKING THIS ORDINANCE CUMULATIVE OF PRIOR ORDINANCES,
REPEALING ALL PRIOR ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH, AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS.
SECTION 1
That in addition to those amounts allocated to the various City departments for the Fiscal Year 1997-98 and in the Budget of
the City Manager, there shall also be increased estimated receipts and appropriations in the General Fund in the amount of
$7,500 00 from available funds for the purpose of funding the purchase of library matenals for various branches though a
contribution from the Texas Book Festival Award.
SECTION 2.
That should any portion, section or part of a section of this ordinance be declared invalid, inoperative or void for any reason by
a court of competent jurisdiction, such decision, opinion or judgment shall in no way nnpair the remaining portions, sections,
or parts of sections of this ordinance, which said remaining provisions shall be and remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 3
That this ordinance shall be cumulative of Ordinance No 13111 and all other ordinances and appropriations amending the
same except in those instances where the provisions of this ordinance are in direct conflict with such other ordinances and
appropriations, inwhich instance said conflicting provisions of said prior ordinances and appropriations are hereby expressly
repealed.
SECTION 4
This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect and after the date of its passage, and it is so ordained.

SUBJECT APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE AND EXPENDITURE APPROVAL OF TEXAS BOOK
FESTIVAL AWARD TO THE FORT WORTH PUBLIC LIBRARY
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council•
1. Authorize the Fort Worth Public Library to accept a Texas Book Festival Award in the amount of
$7,500, and
2. Adopt the attached appropriation ordinance increasing estimated receipts. and appropriations by
$7,500 in the Special Gifts Fund from available funds, and
3 Authorize the transfer of $7,500 from the Special Gifts Fund to the General Fund, and
4 Adopt the attached appropriation ordinance increasing estimated receipts and appropriations by
$7,500 in the General Fund from available funds.
ISCUSSION

The Fort Worth Public Library has received three $2,500 Texas Book Festival Awards to improve the
collections at Riverside Branch Library, Southwest Regional Library and East Regional Library Last
year, the Fort Worth Public Library received $10,000 from the Texas Book Festival to purchase
materials on Hispanic culture and literature. This year's awards will be used to purchase multicultural
materials to serve a broad range _of the Library's ethnically diverse patrons.
FISCAL INFORMATION/CERTiF1CATION
The Director of Fiscal Services certifies that upon approval of the above recommendations and
adoption of the attached appropriation ordinances, funds will be available, as appropriated, of the
General Fund
