HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 13451r~ 1~ :1 J Ordinance No._~~~ AN ORDINANCE INCREASING THE ESTIMATED RECEIPTS AND APPROPRIATIONS IN THE GRANT FUND IN THE AMOUNT OF $250,000 00 FROM INCREASED REVENUE FOR THE PURPOSE OF FUNDING THE WEED AND SEED PROGRAM, PHASE VII, THROUGH A GRANT FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, PROVIDING FOR A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE, MAKING THIS ORDINANCE CUMULATIVE OF PRIOR ORDINANCES AND REPEALING ALL PRIOR ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS SECTION 1 That in addition to those amounts allocated to the various City departments for the Fiscal Year 1997-98 and in the Budget of the City Manager, there shall also be mcreased estimated receipts and appropriations m the Grant Fund in the amount of $250,000 00 from increased revenue for the purpose of funding the Weed and Seed Program, Phase VII, through a grant from the Department of Justice. SECTION 2. Should any portion, section or part of a section of this ordinance be declared invalid, inoperative or void for any reason by a court of competent jurisdicfion, such decision, opinion or judgment shall in no way impair the remaining portions, sections, or parts of sections of this ordinance, which said remaining provisions shall be and remain in full force and effect. SECTION 3 That this ordinance shall be cumulative of Ordinance No. 13111 and all other ordinances and appropriations amending the same except m those instances where the provisions of this ordinance are in direct conflict with such other ordinances and appropriations, in which instance said conflicting provisions of said prior ordinances and appropriations are hereby expressly repealed. SECTION 4 This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect and after the date of its passage, and it is so ordained. The .committee is co-chaired by Mayor Barr and j the~,United~States~Attorney, for the,Northern=DistrictFof~Texas, Paul Goggins. ':This program provides community based training in a variety of subjects, including local government operations, use of cable television, dispute mediation, and etc., for five persons from each Neighborhood Policing District. ~ ' The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Fort Worth will continue to operate the Weed and Seed Safe Haven located in the .original site, on the Van Zandt Guinn Elementary School Campus. Additionally, emphasis is being placed on improving the economic development ;component of the Weed and Seed program. According to the Citizens Crime Commission; more than $20 million in economic development and social services have been brought J into the Weed .and Seed target area since program inception, including the opening of a branch bank and,~a~planned .chain supermarket, currently under construction A total of $5,000 in travel funds has been included for travel to other communities with successful economic development components to study their programs firsthand ,..
