AN ORDINANCE INCREASING THE ESTIMATED RECEIPTS AND APPROPRIATIONS IN THE
SPECIAL GIFT FUND IN THE AMOUNT OF $10,000.00 FROM AVAILABLE FUNDS FOR THE
PURPOSE OF FUNDING THE PURCHASE OF HISPANIC CULTURE LITERATURE AND HISTORIC
MATERIALS, PROVIDING FORA SEVERABILITY CLAUSE, MAKING THIS ORDINANCE
CUMULATIVE OF PRIOR ORDINANCES, REPEALING ALL PRIOR ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT
HEREWITH, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS:
SECTION 1
That in addition to those amounts allocated to the various City departments for the Fiscal Year 1997-98 and in the Budget of
the City Manager, there shall also be increased estimated receipts and appropriations in the Special Gift Fund in the amount of
$10,000 00 from available funds for the purpose of funding the purchase of Hispanic Culture literature and historic materials.
SECTION 2.
That should any portion, section or part of a section of this ordinance be declared invalid, inoperative or void for any reason by
a court of competent jurisdiction, such decision, opinion or judgment shall in no way impair the remaining portions, sections,
or parts of sections of this ordinance, which said remaining provisions shall be and remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 3
That this ordinance shall be cumulative of Ordinance No. 13111 and all other ordinances and appropriations amending the
same except in those instances where the provisions of this ordinance are in direct conflict with such other ordinances and
appropriations, in which instance said conflicting provisions of said prior ordinances and appropriations are hereby expressly
repealed.
SECTION 4
This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect and after the date of its passage, and it is so ordained.

SUBJECT APPROPRIATION ORDINANCES- AND EXPENDITURE APPROVAL OF TEXAS BOOK
FESTIVAL AWARD TO THE FORT WORTH PUBLIC LIBRARY
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council
1 Adopt the attached appropriation ordinance increasing estimated receipts and
appropriations in the Special Gift Fund by 510,000 00 from available funds, and
2 Approve the transfer of 510,000 00 from the Special Gift Fund to the General Fund, and
3 Adopt the attached supplemental appropriation ordinance increasing estimated receipts and
appropriations in the General Fund by 510,000 00, and
4 Approve the expenditure of the 510,000 00 from General Fund to purchase books and
other library materials
DISCUSSION
The Fort Worth Public Library received one of three 510,000 00 awards presented by Laura
Bush, First Lady of Texas, from the first Texas Book Festival Mrs Bush, the Honorary Festival
Chair, was the key organizer of the event held in Austin, November 15-17, 1996 The proceeds
were stipulated to be used to improve the public library collections in Texas The Library plans
to purchase materials, in both English and Spanish, which support Hispanic culture, literature and
history, for all ages
FISCAL INFORMATION/CERTIFICATION
The Director of Fiscal Services certifies that upon completion of the above recommendations,
funds will be available int he current operating budget, as appropriated, of the General Fund
