Home My WebLink AboutOrdinance 12406i!~ ~ d t ORDINANCE NO. /p~ TD~ AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 1.2352, BY REVISING THE POLLING PLACE LOCATIONS PRESCRIBED FOR THE SPECIAL CITY ELECTIONS TO BE HELD ON MAY 4, 1996, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING A MAYOR AND A CITY COUNCILMEMBER FOR DISTRICT 9 OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH; PROVIDING FOR CONTINUED EFFECTIVENESS OF ALL OTHER TERMS AND PROVISIONS OF SAID ORDINANCE; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, on January 16, 1996, the Fort Worth City Council adopted City Ordinance No. .12352, calling for and ordering special elections to be held on Saturday, May 4, 1996, for the purpose of electing a Mayor and a City Councilmember for District 9 of the City of Fort Worth; and WHEREAS, the Fort Worth Independent School District and the Tarrant County Junior College District are scheduled to hold general elections on Saturday, May 4, 1996, for the purpose of electing trustees to their respective governing boards; and WHEREAS, the City of Fort Worth, the Fort Worth Independent School District, and the Tarrant County Junior College District desire to conduct said elections jointly, pursuant to Chapter 271 of the Texas Election Code, using, where feasible, the same polling place locations, thereby adequately and conveniently serving the affected voters and facilitating the orderly conduct of the elections; and WHEREAS, to accomodate the holding of said joint election, the Fort Worth City Council desires to amend Ordinance No. 12352 by revising the polling place locations prescribed therein so that the City, the Fort Worth Independent School District and the Tarrant County Junior College District may share the same polling place locations where feasible; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 12352, on file in the Office of the City Secretary of the City of Fort Worth, is hereby amended by substituting in lieu Exhibit "B" thereof, a revised exhibit, entitled "Revised Exhibit ~B "' , a copy of which is attached hereto, incorporated herein, and made a part of City Ordinance No. 12352 for all purposes. SECTION 2. That all other terms and provisions of Ordinance No. 12352, except as expressly amended herein, shall remain in full force and effect. SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect from and after the date of its passage, and it is so ordained.
