HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 12493-~, Ordinance No AN ORDINANCE INCREASING THE ESTIMATED RECEIPTS AND APPROPRIATIONS IN THE GRANTS FUND IN THE AMOUNT OF $105,249 00 FOR THE PURPOSE OF FUNDING THE JOB TRAINING PARTNERSHIP ACT, TITLE III ECONOMIC DISLOCATION WORKER ADJUSTMENT PROGRAM THROUGH A GRANT FROM THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE; PROVIDING FOR A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; MAKING THIS ORDINANCE CUMULATIVE OF PRIOR ORDINANCES AND REPEALING ALL PRIOR ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS SECTION 1 That in addition to those amounts allocated to the various City departments for the Fiscal Year 1995-96 and in the Budget of the City Manager, there shall also be increased estimated receipts and appropriations in the Grants Fund in the amount of $105,249 00 for the purpose of funding the Job Training Partnership Act, Title III Economic Dislocation Worker Adjustment Program through a grant from the Texas Department of Commerce SECTION 2 Should any portion, section or part of a section of this ordinance be declared invalid, inoperative or void for any reason by a court of competent jurisdiction, such decision, opinion or judgement shall in no way impair the remaining portions, sections, or parts of sections of this ordinance, which said remaining provisions shall be and remain in full force and effect SECTION 3 That this ordinance shall be cumulative of Ordinance No 12074 and all other ordinances and appropriations amending the same except in those instances where the provisions of this ordinance are in direct conflict with such other ordinances and appropriations, in which instance said conflicting provisions of said prior ordinances and appropriations are hereby expressly repealed SECTION 9 This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect and after the date of its passage, and it is so ordained APPROVED AS TO FORM AND LEGALITY Assistant City A Authorize the City Manager to accept additional grants from the Texas Department of Commerce in the amount of $105,249 00 pursuant to the Job Training Partnership Act, Title III, Economic Dislocation Worker Adjustment Act Program, for the contract period of July 1, 1995 to June 30, 1996, and 2 Adopt the attached appropriations ordinance increasing estimated receipts and appropriations in the Grants Fund by 5105,249 00 from increased revenue DISCUSSION On April 11, 1995 the City Council approved M&C C-14761 and thereby authorized the City Manager to accept. a grant from the Texas Department of Commerce in the amount of 51,940,807 00 for implementation of the Job Training Partnership Act, Title III, Economic Dislocation Worker Adjustment Act Program, for a contract period of July 1, 1995 to June 30, 1996 This program allows the Department of Employment and Training to provide assistance to dislocated workers in Fort Worth with a variety of services designed to enable them to reenter the work force On February 23, 1996, the Texas Department of Commerce notified Employment and Training that an additional 555,249 00 in grant funds were available On March 1, 1996, notification was received indicating an additional 550,000 00 was also available for the City's Title III Program Acceptance of these additional funds will bring the total grant amount to 52,046,056
