AN ORDINANCE INCREASING THE ESTIMATED RECEIPTS AND
APPROPRIATIONS IN THE GRANTS FUND IN THE AMOUNT OF $6,510.00
FROM INCREASED REVENUE FOR THE PURPOSE OF FUNDING A
GENERAL CONSERVATION SURVEY OF THE LOG CABIN VILLAGE BY
THE INSTITUTE OF MUSEUM SERVICES, PROVIDING FOR A
SEVERABILITY CLAUSE, MAKING THIS ORDINANCE CUMULATIVE OF
PRIOR ORDINANCES AND REPEALING ALL PRIOR ORDINANCES IN
CONFLICT HEREWITH, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1
That in addition to those amounts allocated to the various City departments for the Fiscal Year 1995/96 and in
Grants Fund in the amount of $6,510.00 from increased revenue for the purpose of funding a general conservation
survey of the Log Cabin Village by the Institute of Museum Services.
SECTION 2.
Should any portion, section or part of a section of this ordinance be declared invalid, inoperative or void for any
reason by a court of competent jurisdiction, such decision, opinion or judgment shall in no way impair the
remaining portions, sections, or parts of sections of this ordinance, which said remaining provisions shall be and
remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 3.
That this ordinance shall be cumulative of Ordinance No. 12074 and all other ordinances and appropriations
amending the same except in those instances whexe the provisions of this ordinance are in direct conflict with
such other ordinances and appropriations, in which instance said conflicting provisions of said prior ordinances
and appropriations are hereby expressly repealed.
SECTION 4.
This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect from and after the date of its passage, and it is so
ordained.

TION ASSESSMENT PROGRAM, INSTITUTE OF MUSEUM SERVICES FOR THE LOG
CABIN VILLAGE
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council
1 Authorize the City Manager to apply for, and accept, if awarded, a grant in the amount of
56,510 00 for a general conservation survey of the Log Cabin Village by the Institute of
Museum Services, and
2 Adopt the attached appropriation ordinance increasing estimated receipts and
appropriations in the Grants Fund by 56,510 00, upon receipt of funds
DISCUSSION
The Parks and Community Services Department is requesting approval to apply for'and accept,
if awarded, a grant from the 1996 Conservation Assessment Program (CAP) from the Institute
of Museums Services (IMS) Grant applications are being accepted until December 1, 1995 for
the current grant cycle This is anon-competitive grant,and funds are awarded on a first-come,
first-serve basis
The grant will provide funds for a general conservation survey The survey will provide an
overview assessment of all the Village's collections, including the historic structures,
environmental conditions and policies and procedures relating to collections care The
surveyor(s) will develop a report which will outline recommendations and priorities for
conservation actions and facilitate development of a long-range plan far care and preservation
of Village collections
CAP funds will cover the following costs
1 Assessor's fees including travel and on-site expenses (up to 55,700 00 for two assessors)
2 Administrative fee to the National Institute for Conservation of Cultural Property (5810 00)
If the assessment expenses exceed the allotted amount, the museum is responsible for paying
the difference Although additional expenses are not projected, if they were incurred, it is
es#imated that these expenses would not exceed $300 00 If this occurs, funds in the current
operating budget will be utilized to underwrite these costs Should the CAP grant be awarded,
the conservation assessment would be completed within one year of the award Upon
completion of this assessment, the City will become eligible to apply for additional IMS funding
to conduct further studies and to supplement the Log Cabin Village's operating funds by as much
as fifteen percent (15°!0) over atwo-year period

At its regular meeting on September 19, 1995, the Parks and Community Services Advisory
Board voted to "concur with staff's recommendation to the City Council to authorize the City
Manager to apply for, and accept, if awarded, a grant in the amount of 56,510 00 for a general
conservation survey of the Log Cabin Village by the Institute of Museum Services "
FISCAL INFORMATION/CERTIFICATION
The Director of Fiscal Services certifies that upon approval of the above recommendations, funds
will be available in the current operating budget of the Grants Fund
