MAIN 269 REPLACEMENT AND DRAINAGE AREA REHABILITATION, PART I,
MANHOLE REHABILITATION
This rehabilitation project will be coordinated with the City's Integrated Wet Weather
Wastewater Management Program to comply with an Administrative Order from the U S
Environmental Protection Agency to eliminate sewer overflows and by-passes in the City's
wastewater collection system
The City received bids on three types of manhole rehabilitation processes to be used in
conjunction with the project Staff recommends thatthe manholes be rehabilitated utilizing
a sprayed-on liner system as provided for in Schedule "C" of the bids received, and that
the contract be awarded to Southwestern Underground, in the amount of 5533,095 00
Staff believes that the benefits to be derived from the long term, maintenance free service
life of the 130 manholes rehabilitated by utilizing the sprayed on liner process (Schedule
"C") far outweigh the cost differential between the different materials (Schedule "A"-
cement base coating, Schedule "B" - a fiberglass epoxy resin coated liner)
The project was advertised July 6 and 13, 1995 On August 17, 1995 the following bids
were received
