HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 12175~~ Ordinance No 1 / RN ORDINANCE INCREASING THE ESTIMATED RECEIPTS AND APPROPRIATIONS IN THE SPECIAL TRUST FUND IN THE AMOUNT OF $19,760 00 FOR THE PURPOSE OF FUNDING THE 1995 YOUTH SPORTS PROGRAM THROUGH A GRANT FROM THE FORT WORTH HOSING AUTHORITY; PROVIDING FOR A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; MAKING THIS ORDINANCE CUMULATIVE OF PRIOR ORDINANCES AND REPEALING ALL PRIOR ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS SECTION 1 That in addition to those amounts allocated to the various City departments for the Fiscal Year 1994-95 and in the Budget of the City Manager, there shall also be increased estimated receipts and appropriations in the Special Trust Fund in the amount of $19,760 00 for the purpose of funding the 1995 Youth Sports Program through a grant from the Fort Worth Housing Authority SECTION 2 Should any portion, section or part of a section of this grdinance be declared invalid, inoperative or void for any reason by a court of competent jurisdiction, such decision, opinion or judgement shall in no way impair the remaining portions, sections, or parts of sections of this ordinance, which said remaining provisions shall be and remain in full force and effect SECTION 3 That this ordinance shall be cumulative of Ordinance No 11645 and all other ordinances and appropriations amending the same except in those instances where the provisions of this ordinance are in direct conflict with such other ordinances and appropriations, in which instance said conflicting provisions of said prior ordinances and appropriations are hereby expressly repealed SECTION 4 This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect and after the date of its passage, and it is so ordained APPROVED AS TO FORM AND LEGALITY G ~x~ ity Attorney ~` 9-20-~5 Date J/ ~' /9- ~s Adopted Effective City of Fort WortJ~ Texas Mayor and Council Communication DATE RBFER$NCE NUMBER LOG NAME PAGE 09/19/95 **C-15026 80SPORTS 1 of 2 StTBJECT AGREEMENT WITH THE FORT WORTH HOUSING AUTHORITY FOR THE 1995 YOUTH SPORTS PROGRAM SERVICING BUTLER HOUSING AT BERTHA COLLINS COMMUNITY CENTER RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council 1 Authorize the City Manager to execute an agreement with the Fort Worth Housing Authority for a youth sports grant in the amount of $19,760 00, and 2 Adopt the attached supplemental appropriations ordinance increasing the estimated receipts and appropriations by S 19,760 00 in the Special Trust Fund from increased revenues DISCUSSION In March 1995, the Fort Worth Housing Authority (FWHA) solicited Request For Proposals (RFP) for a collaborative program to provide youth sports activities servicing the Butler Housing Development The Parks and Community Services Department responded to the RFP to manage a youth sports program for the FWHA at Bertha Collins Community Center Bertha Collins Community Center, which is located at 1501 MLK Freeway North, is less than a quarter mile east of Butler Place/Addition public housing community and the center is accessible via the pedestrian overpass that links Butler Place with the center and surrounding park The park contains outdoor spaces including alighted ballfield, soccer fields, playground, and multipurpose outdoor court and the center contains a gymnasium, activity room, and a weight development area The S 19,760 00 grant will provide salaries for a Recreation Instructor (S01) for 52 weeks at 40 hours per week and two (2) part-time youth outreach helpers These positions will allow for the provision of sport activities (basketball, volleyball, softball, T-ball, soccer, and flag footballl on a Tuesday through Saturday schedule The program goal is to serve 150 youth per each introduced sport activity At its regular meeting on July 18, 1995, the Parks and Community Services Advisory Board voted to endorse staff's recommendation to the City Council to authorize the City Manager to accept this youth sports grant City of Fort Wordy Texas Mayor and Council Communication DATE 09/19/95 REFERENCE NUMBER **C-15026 LOG NAME 80SPORTS PAGE 2 of 2 SUBJECT AGREEMENT WITH THE FORT WORTH HOUSING AUTHORITY FOR THE 1995 YOUTH SPORTS PROGRAM SERVICING BUTLER HOUSING AT BERTHA COLLINS COMMUNITY CENTER FISCAL INFORMATION/CERTIFICATION The Director of Fiscal Services certifies that upon approval and execution of all the above recommendations, funds will be available in the current operating budget, as appropriated, in the Special Trust Fund LW c Submitted for City Manager's FUND ACCOUNT CENTER AMOUNT CITY SECRETARY Office by: (to) FE72 488100 080502131000 $19,760 00 pppROVED Libby Watson 6140 FE72 various 080502131000 $19,760.00 COU NCIL Originating Department Head: .
