HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 18426-01-2009Ordinance No. 18426-1-2009 AN ORDINANCE INCREASING ESTIMATED RECEIPTS AND APPROPRIATIONS NV THE SPECIAL TRUST FUND IN THE AMOUNT OF $5,445.00 FROM AVAILABLE FUNDS FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROMOTING TEXANS AGAINST CRIME NIGHT OUT ON OCTOBER 14, 2008, FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT; MAKING THIS ORDINANCE CUMULATIVE OF PRIOR ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That in addition to those amounts allocated to the various City departments for Fiscal Year 2008- 2009 in the Budget of the City Manager, there shall also be increased estimated receipts and appropriations in the Special Trust Fund in the amount of $5,445.00 from available funds for the purpose of promoting Texans Against Crime Night Out on October 14, 2008, for the Police Department. SECTION 2. That should any portion, section or part of a section of this ordinance be declared invalid, inoperative or void for any reason by a court of competent jurisdiction, such decision, opinion or judgment shall in no way impair the remaining portions, sections, or parts of sections of this ordinance, which said remaining provisions shall be and remain in full force and effect. SECTION 3. That this ordinance shall be cumulative of Ordinance No. 16582 and all other ordinances and appropriations amending the same except in those instances where the provisions of this ordinance are in direct conflict with such other ordinances and appropriations, in which instance said conflicting provisions of said prior ordinances and appropriations are hereby expressly repealed. SECTION 4. This ordinance shall take effect upon adoption. No. 18426-01-2009 DATE: Tuesday, January 06, 2009 REFERENCE NO.: G-16417 LOG NAME: 35CHESAPEAKE SUBJECT: Authorize Acceptance of a Monetary Donation in the Amount of $5,445.00 from Chesapeake Energy to the Police Department to Promote Texans Against Crime Night Out and Adopt Appropriation Ordinance RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council: 1. Authorize the City Manager to accept a monetary donation in the amount of $5,445.00 from Chesapeake Energy to promote Texans Against Crime Night Out; and 2. Adopt the attached appropriation ordinance increasing estimated receipts and appropriations in the Special Trust Fund by $5,445.00 from available funds. DISCUSSION: Chesapeake Energy has generously donated $5,445.00 to the Police Department to help promote the Texans Against Crime Night Out held on October 14, 2008. The Texans Against Crime program was designed to increase crime prevention understanding, generate support and participation in crime prevention programs and improve police and community alliances. The program promotes education of families and neighbors on crime prevention to improve quality of life. Special events such as block parties are held in neighborhoods throughout the City on a designated night to share crime prevention information. This event also coincides with National Crime Prevention Month. The funds from the Chesapeake Energy donation assist in providing promotional items utilized for the special events by the Police Department. Logname: 35CHESAPEAKE Page t of 2 FISCAL INFORMATION/CERTIFICATION: The Financial Management Services Director certifies that upon approval of the above recommendations and adoption of the attached appropriation ordinance funds will be available in the current operating budget, as appropriated, of the Special Trust Fund.
