ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE VACATING, ABANDONING AND CLOSING AND EXTIN-
GUISHING A STREET RIGHT-OF-WAY AND TWO ALLEY RIGHTS-OF-
WAY LOCATED WITHIN THE KENNEDY'S ADDITION TO THE CITY OF
FORT WORTH, TEXAS; PROVIDING FOR REVERSION OF FEE IN SAID
LAND; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1.
THAT the remaining portion of the street right-of-way of
Kennedy Street located north of Lots 11 through 15 and south of
Interstate Highway 30 and extending eastward from the southeast
right-of-way line of Interstate Highway 30 to the west right-of-way
line of Chambers Avenue, a twenty (20) foot wide east/west alley
right-of-way as it runs westward from the west right-of-way line of
Chambers Avenue to the northlsouth alley right-of-way and located
between Lots 6 through 10 and Lots 11 through 15, and a seventeen
(17) foot wide north/south alley right-of-way as it runs northward
from the north right-of-way line of East Lancaster Avenue to the
south right-of-way line of Kennedy Street, Block 2, Kennedy's
Addition, as recorded in Volume 33, Page 16, P.R.T.C.T., and as
more specifically described in attached Exhibit "A", attached
hereto and incorporated herein, be and the same are vacated, aban-
doned and permanently closed and extinguished.
SECTION 2.
That the fee to the land in the above described vacated street
right-of-way and alley rights-of-way is hereby released and s ----~"~

that easements are retained for any and all existing and prospec-
tive utilities.
SECTION 3.
That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION 4.
That this ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and
effect from and after the date of its passage, and it is so
ordained.

RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached ordinance vacating the
remaining portion of Kennedy Street located north of Lots 11 through 15 and south of
I.H. #30 and extending from the southeast right-of-way line of I.H. #30 to the west
right-of-way line of Chambers Avenue, a 20 foot wide east/west alley located between
Lots 6 through 10 and 11 through 15, and a 17 foot wide north/south alley located
between Lot 5 and Lot 6 and 15 and running from the south right-of-way line of Kennedy
Street to the north right-of-way line of East Lancaster Avenue, all are located in
Block 2, Kennedy's Addition, as recommended by the City Plan Commission on January 25
,
1989.
DISCUSSION:
Union Gospel Mission, owner of all abutting property, has requested that the City
vacate the above-described street and alley rights-of-way as delineated on the attached
map. The above-described alley rights-of-way contain electric, telephone
and water
,
facilities which can be accommodated through retention of utility easements for the
existing utility facilities. Reviewing City departments and private utility companies
have raised no objections to this request. A satisfactory replat has been submitted.
This request is located in COUNCIL DISTRICT 8.
FISCAL INFORMATION/CERTIFICATION:
The Land Agent for the City of Fort Worth has determined that a one thousand five
hundred dollar fee satisfies the interest of the City in this request.
